2 Ingredient Mugcake

I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I think this actually might be my favorite recipe on the entire blog.

When I say Taylor and I have made this every single night for four weeks, that is zero exaggeration.

It is SO EASY, SO GOOD, and it hasn't failed me once. My goal is to try every cake mix imaginable, then I'll decide on my top 3 and get back with you.

Think of this as a cupcake in a bowl, made in less than 2 minutes. This recipe actually came to be, because a follower of mine wanted a single serving of cake mix cookies, so she came up with this, and here we are.

Who would've thought that my favorite recipe would be created by one of you guys!

This recipe can be made in so many different ways, depending on the cake mix you use and the toppings you mix in!


Recipe Notes

This recipe can be made with ANY cake mix, any. Gluten free, strawberry chocolate, funfetti, it doesn't matter; it will work. I promise!

You cannot taste the pumpkin. I get asked this at least 10 times for every time I post this recipe. You cannot taste it. No matter what cake mix you use, it will overpower the pumpkin flavor, so do not let this scare you. There must be a lot of pumpkin haters out there because this is always the most popular question regarding this recipe!

If you want a bigger cake, just double everything! The original recipe is small, but it was intended to be small. It's fairly macro friendly in it's original size, so just double it if you want a bigger version!

2 Ingredient Mugcake

My favorite recipe of all time. Hands down. This mugcake is insanely delicious, and you'll be convinced you're eating something totally indulgent. It still blows my mind that it only requires two ingredients! It's cakey perfection and they're at nightly staple in my household. This is one of Taylor's favorites too!

  • 40 g cake mix (any flavor will work!)
  • 1-2 Tbsp canned pumpkin
  • 1-2 Tbsp water (add slowly until you reach cake batter consistency!)
  1. Spray your ramekin or small dish with coconut/olive oil spray.

  2. Combine cake mix, chocolate chips, pumpkin, protein powder (optional) and water in a separate bowl/dish.

  3. Add in your water slowly, you just want to add enough to make it cake batter consistency.

  4. Transfer batter to greased ramekin/dish.

  5. Microwave for 1:00 to 1:20.Let the cake cool completely and enjoy!
