At Home Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso

If you've been on Tiktok or Instagram even one time in the last 5 days, I'm sure you've seen the newest Starbucks craze. If you haven't, it's called the "Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso".

It's a mouthful if nothing else! Everyone I've seen has given it rave reviews, so I can only imagine it's really good. But that's the problem, I can only imagine because I haven't been able to get my hands on it anywhere in Kansas City!

The last three mornings I've gotten on the Starbucks app, and all the stores within a 10 mile radius, some even farther, are sold out of the brown sugar syrup. I figured after a few days of it being hyped, the excitement would die down, but it hasn't yet. This has left me with one option! To make the syrup myself.

There was only one problem, until this morning, I had never actually tried the drink myself, so I really had to wing this one. After trying it, I'm obsessed. And now that I've tried the real deal, it's spot on. Dare I say better?!

Give it a try, I promise you'll love it!

What You'll Need for the Syrup

  • brown sugar (I used Swerve)

  • light maple syrup

  • water

  • vanilla extract

  • cinnamon powder

Recipe Notes

I'm giving you two options today - you can use the syrup in an at home version of the exact Starbucks drink (shaken espresso), which requires fresh brewed espresso. Or you can swap espresso for cold brew if you don't have an espresso machine. It's just as good this way, and a little easier in my opinion!

Macros for the Syrup

Recipe makes about 200 grams, which I divided into 20i servings! Each serving is 10g.
