Boozy Blueberry Cocktail

I promise I create content and come up with recipes aside from cocktails. However, sometimes cocktails make the holidays with family a little more bearable, am I right?

The inspiration for this recipe came from a cocktail bar in Rogers, Arkansas. The bar is called Foxtrail Distillery and I highly recommend if you're ever in the area! We went with some college friends of ours last weekend and had a blast. The drinks, ambiance, and service were all incredible!

I ordered their drink called the "Blueprint" and it was fantastic. Equal parts tart, sweet, and made with their own house, "Boxley" vodka. After I had it, I knew I needed to recreate my own version at home. My version is equally as good, just a tiny bit lighter, which I love!

Garnish

The garnish for this drink is what makes the drink! It's a dehydrated orange, and after making a batch of them, I've decided it's my new go to cocktail garnish. They're incredibly easy to make, and they look so beautiful in a cocktail glass!

The orange is not only for looks, but it serves as a nod to dry curacao which is one of the drink's main ingredients.

How to dehydrate oranges

Dehydrated Oranges

These oranges make the most beautiful garnish for this drink, and bring out the dry citrus notes in the dry curacao. The drink can definitely be made without them, but they're quick and easy, and so worth it!

  • 2 oranges
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  1. Preheat your oven to 200 degrees.

  2. Thinly slice both oranges and lay them on a baking sheet lined with a baking mat.

  3. Sprinkle the orange slices with the granulated sugar.

  4. Bake for 2 hours.

  5. Let them air out for a couple of hours until they're completely dried.

Cocktail Recipe

Boozy Blueberry

This drink tastes as amazing as it looks, if you can believe that! It's equal parts tart and sweet, without being too sweet! The combination of blueberry, dry citrus, and basil give this drink a fruit forward flavor, with a little bite. It's easy to shake up, and you'll have people thinking you're a professional bartender with one sip!

  • 2 basil leaves
  • 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 oz dry curacao
  • 1 oz titos vodka
  • 4 oz v8 fusion light pomegranate blueberry
  • 1 oz blueberry juice ((this is optional, but if you like a strong blueberry flavor, you'll want to add this))
  • 1/2 oz agave ((also optional, just makes it sweeter))
  1. In a cocktail shaker, add basil and muddle.

  2. Then add ice, and all other liquids.

  3. Shake well, and strain into glass
