Caramel French toast bake

This recipe has been a family favorite for years! We make it every holiday, and it has become one of my favorite traditions. It requires very few ingredients, and this one can be made gluten free!

 

French Toast Bake

  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • ½ cup butter

  • 1 lb mountain white Canyon GF bread (you can use regular too!)

  • 6 eggs

  • 1 ½ cups milk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon

Caramel Drizzle

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • ¼ cup butter

Directions

  1. In a small pan, combine butter and brown sugar and simmer until both are melted.

  2. While caramel is simmering, cut 1lb gf (or regular) white bread into 1 inch cubes.

  3. Pour caramel mixture into 9x13 baking dish & layer in bread cubes.

  4. In a small blender, blend eggs, milk, vanilla and cinnamon. pour over bread cubes and refrigerate for 8 hours.

  5. Let french toast sit out for 30 mins prior to baking, then bake at 350 for 40ish minutes / until golden.

  6. Simmer remaining butter and brown sugar and drizzle on top.
