Hydrafacials + Skin Pen Treatment
I've been going to Monarch Plastic Surgery for about a year now, and I often get questions on what I get done while I am there, and who I see! Both of these treatments have helped tremendously as I get my skin "wedding ready", so I wanted to share in case you're local, and looking into anything similar!
Who I see
I see Jen at Monarch for all of my skin related treatments at Monarch. I absolutely love her! Not only is Jen super knowledgeable about all things skincare, she's been able to confidently answer any question I have, as well as give some really great skincare recommendations. She's made me feel so comfortable regardless of what I'm having done, and her bubbly personality makes any service with her so much fun! If you're local, I highly recommend her for any skin service you might need at Monarch!
Hydrafacial
Since last summer, every four to six weeks, I've gotten a hydrafacial! I attribute so much of my skin's healthy glow to regular hydrafacials, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking to invest in a skincare service!
What is it?
Hydrafacial MD uses an innovative Vortex Delivery System. The multistep treatment cleanses, evenly exfoliates and extracts to remove impurities, while at the same time replenishing vital nutrients. This technology effectively reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and provides radiant skin with no downtime or irritation. The treatment was designed for all skin types, including sensitive skin, and can be completed within 30 minutes.
There are a couple of things I really love about the hdyrafacial:
They're quick! I can be in and out of a hydrafacial in about 30-40 minutes!
There is zero down time with a hydrafacial! Obviously they remove your makeup before the facial, but there's no reason you couldn't go back to work after you're done, or go on with the rest of your day, unlike some other services!
It cleans out your pores and makes your skin feel so fresh and clean! I feel like I'm working with a blank slate after I'm done with hydrafacial. Even as someone who takes really, really good care of their skin, you would not believe what's still left on your skin without having something like this done regularly.
SkinPen
Back in May, I saw Jen for microneedling! This is a hot topic right now and I was super excited to try it out at Monarch. This specific service is done with what's called, the SkinPen. To be honest, I was really nervous that this would be painful, but it wasn't at all!
Before the SkinPen, they put a numbing gel on your face which sits for 10-15 minutes, and after that, you can't feel a thing! After that, they use the SkinPen for probably a total of 10 minutes, and you're done!
The SkinPen is basically a bunch of tiny needles that prick your skin which then forces your skin to go into collagen producing overdrive to help repair the tiny wounds. Microneedling helps with a ton of different things, but the main benefits are:
reduces fine lines and wrinkles
elevates the overall texture of the skin
helps with scarring
What is it?
SkinPen is a medical grade, state-of-the-art microneedling device designed to reverse years of sun damage, improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks, and hyperpigmentation, and enhance the overall appearance of aging skin.
Depending on your skin, you may only need one treatment to see results, whereas someone with more scarring may need closer to three treatments. Your provider can help you determine what's best for your skin!
Downtime
In comparison to the hydrafacial, there is definitely more downtime required with the SkinPen. For 3-4 hours post treatment, your skin looks as if you've gotten a pretty bad sunburn. Even by the next day, my skin was still fairly pink. By two days post treatment, I was totally fine, but just something to keep in mind when you're considering treatment.
Results
Now that I'm about a month post SkinPen treatment, I can tell a noticeable difference in the overall texture and firmness of my skin. My skin feels significantly more smooth, firm, and plump, and I've noticed a ton of improvement where I have a scar on my forehead from a curling iron burn I got a few years ago. I don't have a ton of acne scaring, so I can't speak to that, but I imagine if that's something you struggle with, this would be an amazing treatment for you.
