Homemade Candy Cane Perfect Bar Bites

If you know me, you know that protein bars/balls are my jam. They are so easy to make and having quick, healthy snacks on hand is what keeps me from unintentionally eating an entire box of Cheez Its during the week when I’m feeling snacky.

The base recipe for all of my protein bars/balls is the same, which is what makes it so easy for me to create so many different variations! This base is perfectly sweet, with just enough peanut butter, and pairs perfectly with virtually any mix in or topping you choose!

They're also packed with protein, and taste exactly like a Perfect Bar. I promise. They're also great pre or post workout, or for when you have a late night sweet tooth!

Base recipe

This is the base to the Perfect Bar recipe. If you're wanting to experiment on your own with toppings, mix ins, or protein powder, use this recipe as your base!

  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 3 Tbsp honey
  • 2 scoops vanilla protein powder

Protein Powder

The protein powder you use in a protein ball recipe is super important. Trust me when I say, I’ve tried them all and they are not at all created equally.

Some get gritty when you combine them with other ingredients, some don’t melt seamlessly with the peanut butter, some are chunky, etc. There are a lot of reasons certain protein powders don’t work; all you need to know is that I only use one, IHeartMacros!

The IHeartMacros vanilla protein powder is what I use for all of my recipes and truly is the best protein powder I’ve ever used. It works well in any recipe I’ve ever tried it in, it doesn’t dry things out, and the flavor is amazing.

I have taken the guess work out of trying tons of powders and brands, because once you try IheartMacros, you’ll never go back.

This powder was created for people who have a hard time digesting protein (many people have a whey protein intolerance without even knowing it) so it’s super easy on your stomach!

I have yet to have a single person tell me they didn’t love this protein and that is rare when it comes to protein powders!

You can find it here, and my code is KALE20 which will get you 20% off your purchase!

Recipe

Candy Cane Perfect Bar Bites

A homemade version of everyone's favorite protein bar. This one got a holiday glow up with the addition of crushed candy cane and white chocolate chips mixed in!

  • 1 cup smooth peanut butter
  • 2 scoops vanilla protein powder
  • 2 Tbsp honey
  • 1/2 tsp peppermint extract
  • 2 Tbsp crushed candy cane
  • 2 Tbsp white chocolate chips
  1. First, you're going to measure out your peanut butter and honey, and microwave them for one minute until smooth and creamy!

  2. Whisk them together until they're combined.

  3. Add the peppermint extract and whisk again.

  4. Then you're going to add in your protein powder. You want to make sure to stir quickly to make sure the protein powder gets incorporated completely.

  5. Let the mixture cool for about 5 minutes or so. You want it to be room temperature so the batter doesn't melt the chocolate chips when you add them in.

  6. Add in chocolate chips and crushed candy cane, and mix thoroughly.

  7. Using a cookie dough scoop, evenly scoop out about 15 balls.

  8. Refrigerate until you're ready to eat!
