Starbucks Holiday Faves: Made Skinny
I feel like I am so behind on this post! As if I'm surprised, I feel like I'm behind on everything lately. Although I love the holidays, I always feel like there's an added layer of stress trying to get allllll the things done.
But really, the whole plan was to have this up when the holiday drinks came out and here we are!
Alas, why we all need Starbucks right? Right.
If you haven't read my post from earlier this year on how to make any of your favorite Starbucks drinks "skinnier", you should read that first. I'm linking it here in case you're interested! Also I spent so much dang time on that graphic, so make me feel better and go look at that if nothing else!
That post is super helpful, but I know we all love a cheat sheet, so that's what I'm here to provide!
My Holiday Faves
- Peppermint Mocha
- Toasted White Chocolate Mocha
- Caramel Brulee Latte
So sorry to leave all you eggnog latte loving people hanging but the thought of eggnog makes me gag so, someone else has to do your market research for that unfortunately.
Hopefully one of the ones I've come up with will suffice!

Why I write these posts
I've said this before and I feel like I need to say it again: you don't HAVE to make things skinny/lighter. I don't write these posts to shame those who choose to drink a full fat, full sugar drink. I still enjoy them from time to time myself.
But I also know a lot of people have little to no clue as to the amount of sugar they're consuming when they drink these drinks.
For example, if I were to ask you what has more sugar: donut or Starbucks drink? I guarantee the majority of people would answer: donut. We think of donuts as high fat, sugary foods. We don't think about coffee that way. But that's where we're wrong.
On the same token, I know people who believe they can't have Starbucks because it's so unhealthy, or don't go there because they don't think there are any options for someone not wanting to consume a crazy amount of sugar. If that's you, stay tuned!
Donut vs. Coffee
- Dunkin Donuts Glazed Donut: 13g sugar
- Starbucks grande peppermint mocha: 56g sugar
Is that not mind blowing?! You could eat four donuts and you still wouldn't be consuming the same amount of sugar that's in one Starbucks drink! How is that possible? Truly mind blowing to me.
The scary thing is, is that most people get Starbucks fairly frequently, some even every day. Consuming that amount of sugar on a daily basis, just in your coffee, and before 9:00 am no less .. kind of crazy.
That said, here's where I come in to help!

COLD DRINKS
If you want an iced version of any of the above, order them the exact same, just ask for an unsweetened cold brew instead of the almond milk misto!
EXTRA SWEET
If you love your coffee super sweet, add a packet of splenda to any of the above drinks.
STRONGER COFFEE
If a cafe misto isn't strong enough for you, swap it for an americano!
