Mistletoe Mules

Drinks.

Truly one of my favorite kind of recipes to create. Why? They require very little effort, very few ingredients, and drinks are always so much cheaper when you make them at home! Drinks are also fun because once you find one you really like, it's super easy to swap an ingredient or two to make an entirely new drink!

Moscow Mules have been a favorite of ours for a long time now. They're so easy to make, they don't taste like alcohol, and they're refreshing any time of the year. Some of our favorite at home date nights are spent in our kitchen trying to come up with a new version!

That said, we've had fun over the years changing things up to create different versions! Sometimes we change up the fruit, the juice, or even the liquor. Regardless of how you change it up, it always tastes like something brand new! This time, it's a holiday Moscow!

GINGER BEER

When we first started drinking Moscow Mules, I wasn't entirely sold. We soon realized, the ginger beer that's used in the drink, can completely determine whether or not you like the drink.

We were on a date at The Cheesecake Factory back in college one night, and we decided to sit at the bar to avoid the super long wait list. If you've been there, you know how freaking extensive their list of cocktails and food is, so we stuck with something easy, Moscow Mules.

We both drank them and quickly agreed they were the best we'd ever had. We asked the bartender if he had done anything special, or added any secret ingredient that made them so good.

He explained to us that they used a brand of ginger beer called "Bundaberg", which is actually from Australia. He said they often get comments about how good their Moscow Mules are, and he attributes it to the ginger beer.

We immediately found a place in KC that sold it, and picked it up on our way home. We've been making them ourselves ever since! And the bartender was 100% correct, Bundaberg ginger beer is the key to the best Moscow Mule!
