Confetti Cake Pop Protein Balls with Cake Pop Drizzle

We all know that cake anything is my JAM! I love cake, cake batter, frosting, anything and everything related to cake, count me in. As much as I'd love to eat cake every day of the week, that wouldn't necessarily do me any favors!

So as with anything I love, what do I do? I turn it into a protein ball of course! That way, you can have your cake and eat it too! But really, with 6g of protein in each ball, you can have as many as you want, guilt free!

Let's break it down into a few categories: protein powder, almond butter, and drizzle.

Protein Powder

The protein powder you use in a protein ball recipe is actually really, really important. Trust me when I say, I’ve tried them all and they are not all created equally.

Some get extremely clumpy and/or gritty when you combine them with other ingredients. Some don’t melt seamlessly with the peanut butter, some are chunky, etc. There are a lot of reasons certain protein powders don’t work; all you need to know is that I only use ONE!

The vanilla protein powder I use for all of my recipes is the best protein powder I’ve ever used. It works well in any recipe I’ve ever tried it in, it doesn’t dry things out, and the flavor is amazing. I could go on, just trust me.

I have taken the guess work out of trying tons of powders and brands, because once you try IheartMacros, you’ll never go back.

This powder was created for people who have a hard time digesting protein (many people have a whey protein intolerance without even knowing it) so it’s super easy on your stomach if you’ve ever had issues with that!

I have yet to have a single person tell me they didn’t love this protein and that is rare when it comes to protein powders!

You can find it here, and my code is KALE20 which will get you 20% off your purchase!

Almond Butter

Here's what I'll say about this almond butter. There are very few "specialty" products I buy anymore. Often times, they're expensive, unnecessary, and just way overmarketed online. Plain and simple, there's usually no benefit to them other than they're just a marked up version of something similar you could buy at the grocery store.

All American Dream Nut Butters are an exception. They are one of the only products I've consistently ordered since this summer, and I don't see myself slowing down any time soon!

One thing I love about them is that they're extremely macro friendly. This is hard to find in a specialty almond/peanut butter. They usually have things added to them that add a ton of additional fat or carbs to an already high in fat food. Not these! They're low both carbs and fats, for two tablespoons!

Besides that, they are UNREAL. They are by far the best nut butters I've ever had in my entire life. No question. They do not taste macro friendly, they don't add in weird overly sweet things, they are unbelievable. I've had almost every single flavor and I don't have a single complaint.

Taylor loves them too, which is not usually the case for some of the "healthy" products I love!

My code: KALE10, this saves you 10% on your order! I used "Confetti Cake Pop" in these balls!

Drizzle

The drizzle takes it to the next. freaking. level. That being said, don't skip that part. It only takes 30 extra seconds and its a game changer! I'm linking the Swerve powdered sugar in case you don't have it already, or haven't seen it.

This brand is actually used in a ton of grocery stores now, so keep your eye out and you'll probably see it in the health food section of your local grocery store!

Confetti Cake Pop Protein Balls

I'm the biggest lover of all things cake, so I obviously had to try my hand at a cake pop with some protein. These little guys turned out magical. Everything you love about a cake pop, just in protein ball form! Each ball is loaded with protein which makes for a quick and easy snack that will keep you satisfied in between meals, in the tastiest way! If you didn't know any better, you'd think they were dessert!

  1. Microwave the almond butter and honey for 1 minute, then whisk together until smooth.

  2. Fold in the protein powder until thoroughly combined and not clumpy! Mix quickly or it'll get too thick to mix!

  3. If you don’t think your mixture is thick enough to hold a protein ball shape at this point, refrigerate mixture for 5-10 mins so that the batter can firm up!

  4. Use a cookie dough scoop to make 15-16 even bites, place on wax paper.

  5. Make the icing by combining the powdered sugar with almond extract, and water until it's thin enough to drizzle.

  6. Transfer powdered sugar mixture to a small ziplock bag, and cut the corner to make a small icing tip.

  7. Drizzle on the protein balls and refrigerate until you’re ready to eat!
